Hotel Wren – General Manager

Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to lead our team and provide exceptional service for our guests as general manager of a new boutique hotel opening this summer in Twentynine Palms. Our ideal candidate brings a high standard of service quality along with at least 5 years of hospitality experience, preferably in a hotel or restaurant management role. As the general manager, you will oversee the overarching and day-to-day operations of a hotel and general store, and be a leader in creating positive guest experiences throughout their stay. You will also spearhead personnel matters including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, and scheduling. An aptitude for problem-solving, and an organizational mind to handle ordering and inventory management are important. We are looking for a dynamic and outgoing individual for a full-time position starting this Spring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the vision, leadership, and strategy that inspires your staff to deliver exceptional guest service that drives financial success

  • Foster connections and build rapport with guests that help improve their stay experience and encourage them to return

  • Collaborate with team to define objectives that are compatible with the overall hotel goals, as well as strategies for achieving them

  • Monitor and evaluate all daily activities to ensure the successful operation of the hotel and general store

  • Oversee administrative processes such as staffing, training, budgeting, finance, and payroll

  • Develop training system for new staff, creating continuing education programs to promote growth within existing team

  • Plan, organize and delegate daily operational activities for forecasted business volume

  • Drive effective communication across all departments to ensure consistency and cohesiveness throughout all areas of the property

  • Address and respond to guest comments and feedback before, during, and after their stay and provide appropriate feedback to the property owners and staff to remedy any concerns

  • Participate in regular inventories to ensure proper supply levels, place orders for supplies as needed for both hotel and general store operations: amenities, F&B, wine, coffee, back of house supplies, branded stationery, merchandise etc. 

  • Approve and process vendor invoices, audit cash banks and perform other accounting-related functions as necessary

  • Intervene, assist and document instances of guest or employee incidents

  • Maintain the integrity of the hotel’s compliance with the company’s safety and security program and ensure adherence to all company and brand policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Create a budget to maximize profit margins while keeping costs in balance with guest satisfaction and quality of services

  • Lead sales and marketing efforts by developing a targeted strategy for publicizing the hotel's services and amenities

  • Establish the hotel's reputation for quality by inspecting rooms, public areas, and the surrounding grounds for cleanliness and upkeep on daily basis

  • Manage all aspects of private event sales, from fielding inquiries, site visits and client meetings to developing proposals and negotiating contract specifics

  • Actively develop and manage relationships with private event clientele and promote event program to the community

  • Oversee and collaborate with PR and Social Media team to maintain consistent brand messaging throughout all hotel platforms

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in the hospitality field;

  • Previous experience as a hotel manager, assistant manager, or hotel department manager required;

  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills;

  • Proven customer service experience as a manager; strong guest-focused mentality.
